For the fifth consecutive year, Draper City, Jordan Valley Water Conservation District (JVWCD) and WaterPro hosted over 750 fourth graders for Water Week tours and events. For the first time, Draper mayor Troy Walker joined the tours.
On May 6, 7, and 8, fourth-grade students from all public and private schools in Draper toured JVWCD’s and WaterPro’s treatment plants, as well as participating in hands-on activities to learn about watershed protection, stormwater pollution, the history of water in Draper, and the water cycle.
The field trips are funded by the participating organizations and a grant from JVWCD and were provided at no cost to the schools or the students. We are pleased to be able to host the students each year, and hope they will take to heart the lessons they learn about water protection and conservation.
